If you're hunting for affordable yet tasty Indian cuisine in Chicago, look no further than Ghareeb Nawaz UIC. Nestled at 807 W Roosevelt Rd, this gem is renowned for delivering bold flavors that won’t break the bank. Customers rave about dishes like the Chili Chicken Paratha and Butter Chicken, both of which receive high praise for their hearty portions and mouthwatering tastes.
Malik Khilfeh calls it "the best cheap Indian food out there," while Olivia Ridge can't get enough of their butter chicken and biryanis, praising the attentive service that complements the great value. For those with adventurous palates, Abinash Mohanty gives props to the Boneless Chili Chicken Rice and Mango Lassi—a perfect pairing for any meal.
While the atmosphere is unpretentious, Larry Sullivan highlights that the real star is the flavor. The large portions make it ideal for a quick lunch or a satisfying late-night bite. Just keep in mind, as Chad Wilson humorously noted, that some culinary adventures may come with a quick trip to the restroom. Overall, Ghareeb Nawaz is your go-to spot for no-fuss, delicious halal eats that keep you coming back for more.

Love this place! I’ve been coming here regularly for two years. I crave their butter chicken and biryanis too often. The value is amazing. The service is efficient and everyone that’s works here is very kind.

Went thrice in a year- 1) CHICKEN BIRIYANI served with onion and chutney. (7/10-usual chicken pulao tasted good and value for money) 2) CHILLI CHICKEN with PARATHA served with onion and chutney. (8/10-should be named as dry chicken masala curry, tasted good but not like chilli chicken. Ordered a must try MANGO LASSI with (1) & (2). 3) EGG with PARATHA served with onion and chutney. Can avail ketchup when asked at the counter. (7/10-usual egg double side fry with big paratha)

Man, Ghareeb Nawaz UIC hits hard. I grabbed the Boneless Chili Chicken Rice and rounded it out with a Butter Chicken Paratha. Super hearty, left me stuffed for under 25 total (plus tip). Place is no frills, but the flavors slap and the portions are huge. Staff’s chill, counter service’s quick, and it's perfect for a Loop lunch run or a late-night grub sesh. No fuss, just good halal eats.

Place is great. Food is awesome. Portions for the price are phenomenal. Stop expecting filet mignon for brisket pricing. Yes you may have to run to the bathroom shortly after eating here, but I consider it part of the experience. Ghareeb is the McDonald’s of desi food.

Hole in the wall restaurant located on the corner of Roosevelt in a little plaza. From the outside you wouldn’t think much of this restaurant, but on the inside you’ll be blown away with this hidden gem! It’s a no frills, Indian/Pakistani restaurant offering very cheap delicious eats. I ordered butter chicken with basmati rice and chapatti. All for 15. Incredible flavor, perfect amount of spice and large portions— what more could you want!

First of all I want to say that reading the reviews a lot of people are complaining about the spice level. If u never had this type of food then just don’t come here. To me personally I absolutely LOVED the spice level. It blended so beautifully with the the many flavors and spices. It was just overall AMAZING as well as great customer service! Definitely will be coming here more often especially in a gentrifying area where foods are extremely expensive On Halstead. I grew up in Pilsen so I love knowing this spot is still here. Don’t listen to the haters on here complain about the spice levels. It was perfect to me 3
